Community Hub Hosting
Bring fresh food closer to your neighbours. Host a pickup spot right where people already are.
What is a Community Hub?
A Community Hub is a pickup spot right in your neighbourhood where Table & Kin members grab their weekly produce boxes. Instead of delivering to every doorstep, we bring boxes to a nearby home, business, or community space. It keeps costs down, cuts delivery time, and gives neighbours a reason to run into each other.
Hubs are the backbone of how Table & Kin works. Every hub is hosted by someone in the community who has offered up a small space to make fresh food more accessible for the people around them.
Two Ways to Host
Host From Your Home
You have a covered porch, a garage, or a side entrance that stays dry and clean. You let your neighbours know about Table & Kin and get a few of them signed up. We drop off boxes on delivery day and your neighbours swing by to grab theirs during the pickup window.
Host From Your Workplace or Business
You have a lobby, a break room, a storefront, or any indoor space that is clean and accessible. You get a few coworkers or customers signed up. We drop off on delivery day and pickups happen during the window just like a residential hub.
What Hosting Involves
Hosting does come with a few food safety responsibilities. Your pickup space must be clean, dry, and covered from weather. Boxes need to sit at least 15 centimetres off the floor on a table, shelf, or rack. Pets and animals must be kept away from the pickup area during the window, with the only exception being service animals. Each hub host must also provide Table & Kin with their available pickup hours so we can share the right window with your members. Every location is different and we work around what fits your schedule. We will walk you through everything when we connect and it is all laid out in a short written agreement you will sign before your hub goes live.
What Happens With Unclaimed Boxes
The pickup window closes at 6:00 PM. After that, any boxes that have not been picked up are in the hands of the hub host. You decide what happens next.
You can keep the produce for yourself. You can give it to a neighbour. You can donate it to a local food bank or community group. You can arrange a late pickup directly with the customer.
If a customer picks up after the 6:00 PM cutoff, that arrangement is between you and the customer. Table & Kin is not responsible for the condition of produce after the pickup window has closed.
